Peace through Tea

Pangea Tea is an independent husband-and-wife team creating a bridge from the ancient traditions of tea to common daily rituals, in order to remind us of our inherent oneness. Pangea Tea is not just a product, but a living journal of our experiences exploring the depths of tea as a connector across cultures. We hope that the teas and tea experiences we offer help people to remember their inherent connection to themselves and to each other, to remember that all the countries of the world used to form one land mass, that we were once – and still are – all one.

  • Love Comes First

We are building this business as a family. Love is the cornerstone of a healthy family, and it is the cornerstone of our business.

  • One Sip at a Time

We are building organically, with the utmost respect for people, place, and planet. The phrase “one sip at a time” was inspired by an Oprah interview with Thich Nhat Hanh in 2013: “If you are ruminating about the past or worrying about the future, you will completely miss the experience of enjoying the cup of tea. You will look down at the cup, and the tea will be gone … Life is like that.”

  • High Integrity Tea

Sourcing matters. All of our teas are fairly-traded, grown with traditional, organic, and regenerative (where possible) practices, and sent to you in eco-friendly packaging. We work directly with small family farms around the world and highlight the people and the stories behind the teas.

  • Daily Ceremony

We are here to remind people that all of life is a ceremony. It’s not about the tea. Drinking water can be a ceremony if done with intention, presence, and gratitude. By drawing upon our decades-long backgrounds in yoga, meditation, herbalism, and tea ceremony, we infuse simple ways to cultivate daily peace through tea.

  • Collaboration over Competition

By reframing “competitors” as potential collaborators, we can cultivate abundance mindsets and creative transmissions that benefit the collective vs. enrich a select few.

  • Creativity + Connection = Community

We believe that by valuing the unique creative light that exists within every human being, we can facilitate deep connection, honest dialogue, and bridge-building across worlds, resulting in authentic community.

Looking back, I can see how tea has been calling me all my life as I grew up drinking my mom’s Indian chai. Right out of college in 2008, while working as a consultant in Chicago, the name “Pangea Tea” came to me in a flash, and I immediately bought pangeatea.com, a URL I sat on for 16 years while pursuing a career across the music and tech industries and putting names on my resume. After leaving corporate America in 2023, I dusted off this old dream of mine and shared it with my wife. The path was clear. Rachael and my very first date was at a Portland teahouse, and no matter what has happened in the world or in our lives, we can always come back to each other over tea. Pangea Tea fits the vision we have for our lives, our family, and our work in the world.

I am a forever student and teacher of trauma-sensitive yoga, meditation and nidra, children’s and family yoga, prenatal yoga, and infant massage therapy. My heart is to create spaces for community, healing, and hope, where people feel connected in their similarities and celebrated in their differences. I believe we were created to live in community, support one another in the big and the small, to heal and to dream, and to find joy in the simple pleasures. In a world too often divided, it seems crucial to highlight the things that unite us. Every culture, every country, throughout lifetimes has gathered around the elements to drink tea in unity, whether in sacred silence or in robust laughter. Tea is an ancient medicine that seamlessly integrates into the modalities I’ve studied and taught, and I’m excited to introduce more people to its magic.
